«Mechanisms of Social Mobility» – ECSR thematic conference grant for Prof. Dr. Per Block and team, to be held May 11-12th, 2026.

Prof. Dr. Per Block and his team are very pleased to have been bestowed a grant by the European Consortium for Sociological Research for a Thematic Conference on Social Mobility. The conference will take place at the University of Zurich.

The ECSR board has accepted the proposal for a thematic conference submitted by Prof. Dr. Per Block and his team: Sarah Berkinshaw, Linus Krug and Jingying Wang

The in-person conference is scheduled to be held on May 11-12th, 2026, on the premises of the University of Zurich. 

Keynote speaker:

Florencia Torche, Edwards S. Sanford Professor of Sociology and International Affairs of Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and Sociology.

Prof Dr. Per Block’s research area is the Sociology of Networks with a focus on structural patterns that represent the interdependence of different observations, as well as the development of new methodology and furthering our understanding of the current statistical network toolbox.
