💡 Public talks at SUZ: Laura Wiesböck on «Mental Health in the Digital Attention Economy.»

Of trauma, triggers and ADHD: Thanks to the digital attention economy, mental health is being destigmatized, shifting from being a highly personal matter, to becoming a subject of public discussion. In her talk, Laura Wiesböck explores how platform mechanics are shaping society’s approach to mental health in which common emotional experiences become blurred with clinical diagnoses, and pathologization and commercialization are on the rise.

Every semester, our Department hosts a series of public talks (colloquiums) on the topic of «Current Sociological Research» with local researchers and invited guest speakers. While these talks are mandatory for our Master's degree students, any interested members of the general public are welcome to attend - no registration necessary.

Upcoming public talk: «Mental Health in the Digital Attention Economy.»

Guest speaker: Dr. Laura WiesböckSenior Researcher and Head of the junior research group Digitalization and Social Transformation at IHS (Institute for Advanced Studies) Vienna.
