Prof. Dr. Katja Rost voted to be new Head of Department

The Department Assembly of the Department of Sociology elected Prof. Dr. Katja Rost to be the new Head of Department. Prof. Dr. Rössel is reelected as Deputy Head of Department.

Prof. Dr. Katja Rost will take office on August 1st with a term of office of a minimum of two years. Among her new duties as a Head of Department are the representation of the Department, the management of the allocated resources, and chairing the meetings of the Department Assembly.

Katja Rost joined the Department of Sociology in 2012 as full professor of sociology and lecturer in economics at the University of Zurich. Her research focuses on economic and organizational sociology (digital historical sociology, gender in affluent societies, elite sociology, sociology of digitalization and innovation). She is Vice President of the University Council of the University of Lucerne, Co-Director of the University Research Priority Program Human Reproduction Reloaded, Vice Chair of the Center for Higher Education and Science Studies and a member of the University Research Priority Program Digital Religions. Additionally, she regularly teaches modules in the Bachelor and Master's study program at the SUZ. Before working in academia, she worked for 3 years in corporate and political consulting.

Katja Rost will be supported and deputized by Prof. Dr. Jörg Rössel. Jörg Rössel researches and teaches at the Department of Sociology since 2008. His research interests are Sociological Theory, Economic Sociology, Migration and Integration.
