New format launched at the SUZ: «Meet the researcher»

Last Tuesday, the format organized by the Junior Faculty Members had its inaugural meeting.

The primary objective of the sessions is to foster mutual acquaintance and explore potential collaborative opportunities across various Chairs.

Giuseppe Pietrantuono presented his freshly started five-year project, titled Causes, Contexts, Consequences: Understanding Immigrant Integration through Citizenship (InterCitizien).

Participating with him on the SNF project is Alessandra Stampi-Bombelliwho provided participants with an overview of her previous research and explained her contributions to InterCitizien.

Sandra Gilgen shared her motivation for studying inequality and discussed how this focus informs her current research within the URPP H2R | Human Reproduction Reloaded.

Overall, the event marked a successful start for a format designed to get to know each other and  the diverse research within the department. Welcome to participate or attend are all researchers - from the SUZ and other departements of the UZH.

Giuseppe Pietrantuono is an Assistant Professor at the University of Zurich, supported by an SNSF Starting Grant for the project «Causes, Contexts, Consequences: Understanding Immigrant Integration through Citizenship». His research focuses on how migration policy can foster or hinder integration, particularly through citizenship.

Alessandra Stampi-Bombelli works as a postdoctoral researcher under the Chair of Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Pietrantuono at the Department of Sociology. Her work focuses on two main topics: first, on using computational linguistic methods to capture attitudes towards minority groups and, second, a focus on naturalization and integration.

Sandra Gilgen is a post-doctoral researcher at the Empirical and Normative Knowledge and Data Centre of the URPP Human Reproduction Reloaded | H2Rat the University of Zurich. Her research interests include intersectional inequalities, distributive justice, discrimination and education.
