Marlis Buchmann receives William Thierry Preyer Award

We are honoured to announce that Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Marlis Buchmann has been awarded the 2023 William Thierry Preyer Award for Excellence in Research on Human Development at the European Conference for Developmental Psychology in Turku, Finland, on August 28, 2023. 

Prof. Buchmann is head investigator of COCON - The Swiss Survey on Children and Youth. Buchmann, who holds multiple awards as well as an honorary doctorate awarded by the University of Berne, currently works as a professor emeritus at the Department of Sociology as head of the Swiss Job Market Monitor in a private-law capacity. 

She receives this award in recognition of her life's work and in particular "her many merits both in scientific contribution and societal impact, but also for being an inspiration and an outstanding role model for other female scientists".

 The William Thierry Preyer Award for Excellence in Research on Human Development is given by the European Association for Developmental Psychology (EADP):

"... to a European psychologist or a group of European psychologists – who is/are recognized internationally for an original and substantial contribution to a better understanding of human development and its contexts, as demonstrated by first-rate publications in scholarly journals, based on empirical research into the antecedents, processes and outcomes of human development-in-context.
