John von Neumann Lecture Series: Jürg Fröhlich on «Science and the (Ir)responsibility of Scientists»
In the annual public lecture organized by the Zurich Center for Market Design features renowned speakers celebrating von Neumann's revolutionary contributions to economics, game theory, and beyond. This year, Prof. em. Dr. Jürg Fröhlich gives the lecture on Friday, May 29th, at 15:00 in the ETH Main Building (HG).
The Zurich Center for Market Design is a research hub at the University of Zurich where ideas meet implementation and is led by Co-Directors Prof. Dr. Heinrich Nax (SUZ) and Prof. Dr. Marek Pycia (UZH Econ). The Center's aim is to bring together economics, computer science, and beyond, united by a fascination with how the rules of a market shape the outcomes it delivers.
In their annual John von Neumann lecture series (www.johnvonneumann.org), they honor von Neumann's revolutionary contributions to mathematics, physics, computer science, economics, and game theory. John von Neumann studied at ETH Zurich from 1923 to 1926 and in the public lecture at his alma mater, renowned speakers celebrate his legacy and share their own inspiring work.
This year's guest is Prof. em. Dr. Jürg Fröhlich, a Swiss mathematician and theoretical physicist. He is a Professor Emeritus at ETH Zurich and best know for introducing techniques for the statistical modeling of the Infrared Problem. His lecture on Friday holds the title Science and the (Ir)responsibility of Scientists.
