Elias Naumann is visiting professor at the University of Zurich for the fall semester 2026. His research focuses on political sociology and comparative welfare state research. In particular, he is interested in how societal changes — such as population ageing, migration, or economic and financial crises — affect political attitudes as well as solidarity and trust more broadly. Methodologically, his work centers on survey methods and questionnaire development, as well as the use of causal (experimental) research designs to study individual attitude change.
During his visiting professorship, he is on leave from his position at GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Mannheim, where he is responsible for questionnaire development for the German General Social Survey (ALLBUS).
