Prof Dr. Per Block’s research area is the Sociology of Networks with a focus on structural patterns that represent the interdependence of different observations, as well as the development of new methodology and furthering our understanding of the current statistical network toolbox. 

Prof. Dr. Jörg Rössel teaches and researches at the Departement of Sociology since 2008 as an  Ordinarius of Sociology. His research interests are Sociological Theory, Empirical Cultural Sociology, Social Stratification, Political Sociology, and Comparative Historical Sociology.

Larissa Fritsch ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und Doktorandin am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Dr. Jörg Rössel. Ihr Forschungsprojekt befasst sich mit queerer Identität und Kinderwunsch in Zusammenhang mit rechtlichen und medizinischen Möglichkeiten. Sie ist assoziierte Wissenschaftlerin am universitären Forschungsschwerpunkt "Human Reproduction Reloaded | H2R".

Larissa Fritsch is research assistant and PhD student at the chair of Prof. Dr. Jörg Rössel. Her PhD project focuses on LGBT+ individuals’ desire to have children and the way it is connected to legal and medical opportunities. She is an adjunct researcher at the University Research Priority Program "Human Reproduction Reloaded | H2R".

Dr. Anna Mann's Forschung verwendet Akteur-Netzwerk-Theorie, material semiotics und weitere Ansätze aus der Wissenschafts- und Technikforschung (STS), und qualitativen Methoden um Entstehungsprozesse und Transformationen “guter” medizinischer Betreuung am Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts zu beleuchten. Damit trägt sie zu Debatten über Care, Werte, Kritik und die medizinische Profession bei.

In his doctoral research for the project "(Im)possibilities of letting life end. An ethnography of medical specialist practices", PhD student Luke Stalley is exploring the care practices of geriatricians working in the UK's National Health Service. 

Situated at the intersection of Medical Sociology, Medical Anthropology and Science & Technology Studies (STS), Luke's doctoral research extends his ongoing interest in both the nature and normative aspects of scientific research and the mundane and messy practicalities of providing care. Through his research, Luke hopes to contribute to current scholarship in STS concerning care, valuing, maintenance and bodies in practice, and to find both academic and creative avenues to translate these findings to wider audiences.

Dr. Valentina Petrović forscht am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Rössel zu Demokratisierung, Europäisierung, politische Mobilisierung und vergleichende politische Ökonomie im postkommunistischen Kontext. Valentina Petrović veröffentlichte 2024 ihr Buch zu «Structural Origins of Post-Yugoslav Regimes».
