Matthias Klingler is a research assistant and PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology and in the sub-project ‘Human Reproduction in Societies and Markets’ of the URPP ‘Human Reproduction Reloaded’ since 2023. The doctorate is supervised by Prof. Dr. Marco Giesselmann.
Matthias studied sociology and educational science at the universities of Mainz and Bamberg. During his master studies he worked as a student assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) in Bamberg.
His research interests lie in the field of family and life course sociology. Matthias is particularly interested in the effects of life-course transitions (e.g. parenthood) on the division of paid and unpaid work within couples and the changes in family relationships (e.g. sibling relationships) as a consequence of these transitions.
