MoNAn package

Package description

The Mobility Network Analysis (MoNAn) packge is the implementation of the method for the analysis of mobility newtorks as outlined in Block et al. (2022) in the statistical environment R. The software is hosted on github and CRAN submission is planned.

The latest version of the software is published here. Documentation of the package can be found in the helpfiles of the package, in the README on github, in the MoNAnExampleScript.R  on github and in the comprehansive MoNAn Manual (PDF, 451 KB).

Note that we are constantly improving usability and extending functionality. Thus, the manual and the package are frequently updated; please make sure you stay up-to-date with the latest developments.

Workshop in Zurich, 04.10.-06.10.

We will host a small workshop for students and researchers that are interested in using the method and R package from Wed, 04 Oct 2023 (mid-day) to Fri, 06 Oct 2023 (early afternoon) at the University of Zurich. The workshop will cover the theory of the method, as well as the software implementation. Ample time will be dedicated to discussion and hands-on experience with the package. Participants are encouraged to bring their own data.

The workshop is primarily aimed at researchers that have a concrete research project in mind, preferably with a clear idea of the data to be used. Working knowledge of intermediate statistics (e.g. logistic regression) is required. Prior knowledge in statistical network methods (e.g. ERGMs) is helpful. Since the package is in its development stage, familiarity with R is necessary.

Workshop participation is free of charge, but participants need to cover their expenses for the duration of their stay in Zurich.

Students and researchers interested in participating are invited to send an email to mobility.workshop@soziologie.uzh.ch noting their wish to participate and a very short (~2-3 sentences) outline what they intend to research and what data they will use.

Material for the workshop can be found here.
