David Johann studied Sociology with focus on applied social science research. He completed his PhD in Political Science at the University of Vienna. From 2009 to 2015, David Johann was a Research Associate in the Department of Methods in the Social Sciences at the University of Vienna. He was a core team member of the Austrian National Election Study (AUTNES). In addition, he actively participated in the work of the Platform for Surveys, Methods and Empirical Analyses (PUMA), a cooperative initiative which aims at establishing a national centre of excellence for quantitative research methods and empirical approaches to social sciences. PUMA also supports high-quality survey research in Austria. From 2016 to 2018, David Johann was a Principal Investigator at the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW). In addition to his appointment at the DZHW, he was Senior Research Fellow at the University of Vienna. Since 2018, David Johann is a Assistant Professor (Oberassistent) at the University of Zurich. His research interest and expertise is (a) survey methodology and research methods, (b) political sociology and social psychology as well as (c) science studies.
